Who We Are
Founded in 2011 by individuals concerned over the fate of former race horses and supported by passionate individuals like you, Heading for Home Race Horse Retraining and Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization located in Saratoga County, New York.
Guided by a set of fundamental principles of respect, advocacy and compassion, and supported by an all- volunteer executive staff, Heading for Home assists the concerned owners, trainers and equine advocates successfully transition off the track race horses into viable second careers. Our governing body is comprised of professionals experienced with serving successful not-for-profit ventures and also having the ability to provide ideas based experience specific to our particular mission. Those individuals representing our Board of Directors serve without compensation, with fundraising efforts directed toward supporting our program activities.

Our MissionHeading for Home Race Horse Retraining and Adoption Center is an equine welfare organization through which passionate individuals like yourself demonstrate their concern for retired racehorses and individuals and families in need.
At Heading for Home we are dedicated to the promotion of viable alternatives for Thoroughbred and Standardbred race horses upon retirement. Recognizing their valuable contribution to our entertainment and our community, Heading for Home believes that retiring race horses deserve the chance to be productive after their competing years are over. This can be accomplished through training, rehabilitation, adoption and advocacy |
